There continues to be high demand for Avis’ one-year old luxury vehicles, which are sold via its pre-owned car subsidiary, Zeda Luxury Car Sales, in Rivonia.
Zeda Car Sales executive, Dave Porteous, says while the demand for pre-owned entry-level vehicles has evened out after about two years of strong sales, the demand for luxury vehicles continues to be high. “Our Rivonia branch, which predominately sells pre-owned luxury vehicles, is the most successful branch in the Zeda Car Sales network,” he says.
Perfectly positioned at the Rivonia Crossing Shopping Centre on the corner of Witkoppen and Rivonia Roads, Porteous says the Rivonia branch has been successful from an Avis car rental and Zeda Car Sales point of view. “I believe the success of the branch can be attributed to several factors such as being situated on a highly visible thoroughfare in an affluent area and offering customers exceptional products and service,” he says.
Zeda Rivonia sells mainly Audi, BMW and Mercedes Benz luxury vehicles, as well as SUVs. No vehicles are older than one year and each car has driven an average of between 15 000 and 35 000 kilometres.
Porteous says because Avis rents its luxury vehicles to business people or tourists at the premium end of the market, customers tend to look after the cars well and they are all in excellent condition. “In addition, we keep a thorough damage and maintenance history of each car, which undergoes constant quality checks prior to being presented to each renter “as new” every few days,” he says.
All vehicles undergo a roadworthy test before being sold, which ensures a totally independent evaluation is provided to each customer. Zeda Car Sales offers the transfer of the balance of the manufacturers’ warranties and maintenance plans to the new owners, with the option of extending them, if so desired.
Porteous says that a significant number of the de-fleeted vehicles are sold via its 17 retail outlets throughout the country, the remaining vehicles are sold to traders through its online auction site Tradersonline. “The days of traipsing from one dealer to the next are over and most people prefer to choose their vehicles online,” he says.
Customers can view all retail vehicles for sale upfront on the Zeda website. The site has a repayment calculator and customers can conduct vehicle and pricing comparisons and apply for finance online – a lot more convenient than driving from one showroom to the next.
