New Sandton Branch for Avis

Avis’ new Sandton branch is adjacent to Gautrain station

Avis has opened a new state-of-the-art branch in Sandton adjacent to the new Gautrain station on Rivonia Road. In addition, the car rental company is operating from the Gautrain station itself, offering its customers a seamless journey from the airport to their final destination.

The new branch is manned by 10 people and offers a total transport solution including Avis Rent a Car, Avis Chauffeur Drive, Avis Point 2 Point, Avis Minilease, Avis Coach Charter and Avis Luxury Cars. Requests for vans and trucks can also be facilitated.

Avis chief executive Wayne Duvenage says the Gautrain is a welcome addition to South Africa’s travel offerings. “Since the close of the Soccer World Cup and the return of the corporate renter, we have seen a definite uptake in the service and our Sandton Gautrain branch has become a very busy operation,” he says.

When the Gautrain launched in Sandton on a bitterly cold morning on 8 June 2010, Avis was the first car rental company to greet customers at the new station. In addition to making commuters aware of all the services we offer and our presence at the Gautrain Station.

Avis will continue to operate from its existing Sandton branch close to the Grayston – Rivonia intersection for general walk-in and delivery business.

Duvenage says the new Sandton Gautrain branch is a key investment for Avis, which is aimed at fulfilling the needs of a “new base” of customers. We have taken a leaf out of our French operations in Europe who have a close service link-up with the commuter train network throughout France. “Avis already has plans to be present at the rest of the Gautrain stations spread throughout Gauteng, as and when these come into operation during 2011,” he says.
