Avis geared up at King Shaka International - Durban

Avis welcomes the opening of King Shaka International Airport in time for 2010

Avis welcomes the opening of King Shaka International Airport (KSIA) in La Mercy on 1 May 2010, in time for the 2010 FIFA World Cup. The airport is just 35 kilometres north of Durban’s city centre and will cater for all Durban-bound air travel from 1 May onwards.

Avis was recently awarded prime car rental position at King Shaka in 2009 and our conveniently located kiosk is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities that are aimed at increasing efficiencies and reducing the time our customers spend in queues.

At Avis, where people are more important than cars, the customer service kiosk has been purpose-built to provide customers with world-class service. It has 17 dedicated customer service points (20% more than the number of terminals at the current Airport) to handle all services from Domestic, International, Preferred and Express Rentals, to dedicated Paraplegic and Luxury Cars offerings.

Avis has also developed a new vehicle preparation yard at KSIA to include a larger vehicle service workshop, fast line panel shop and a new regional office, which includes a Used Cars trade depot.  The new yard has efficient vehicle flow, additional fuel pumps and fast line car wash plants that recycle over 80% of water used.  In addition, the rainwater is harvested to be used for car washing, in line with Avis’ environmental policy of minimising its negative impact on the planet.

King Shaka International Airport promises a whole new experience for travellers to KwaZulu-Natal and is sure to place the province more firmly on the map as a sought after travel destination.

Other Avis car hire South Africa locations include Cape Town, Johannesburg, Port Elizabeth and many more.
